Merrill Output Options

Merrill offers many options for pre- and post-filing documents. Proofs during EDGARization are intended to assist you with your editing and reviewing process. Whether you need a copy of your filing in MS Word format to create your next filing or you want to send PDF copies to investors, we can help. We have an output option that will meet your needs. Please see the chart below for a description of Merrill output options.


Pre-filing Proofs

HTML
Purpose EDGAR submission for client review to check links and graphics (Intended for online viewing only, not for marking edits)
Description A continuous, scrolling file, with submission header, that does not contain Merrill bannerlines
Options Clean or Redlined (redlined for SEC only)
File Extension .exe - .htm bundled with graphic files
.htm - with individual graphic files

EDGAR PDF
Purpose EDGAR submission for client review, to be output for marking and submitting edits.
Description A PDF of the HTML and/or ASCII with submission header, Merrill bannerlines and document divider pages
Options Clean or Redlined (shows edits since previous filing)

Typeset PDF
Purpose Typeset documents for client review, to be output for marking and submitting edits.
Description A PDF of typeset documents with Merrill bannerlines
Options
  • Clean - no blacklining
  • Blacklining is for proofing purposes only. It does not print or EDGAR file.
    • Precise Marked - traditional or strikethrough blacklining to show edits of current cycle.
    • Cumulatively Marked - traditional or strikethrough blacklining to show edits from current and prior consecutive cycles combined.
  • With or without Merrill bannerlines

As-filed
Closed Submission HTML and PDF
Purpose A confirmation copy of the SEC filing.
  • Post on your website
  • Send via email
  • Photocopy and distribute (not recommended for HTML).
Description A copy of the filing as it was filed with the SEC (HTML, ASCII) A copy of the ASCII and/or HTML documents that filed with the SEC.
Options None With or without
  • Exhibits
  • Schedule 14A/14C cover
  • Submission Header.
